Three Centuries of African American Soldiers


The word is given! The date certain for our he annual gathering to salute the unsung sable warriors of yesteryear. Lest we forget. 
This is a  special year of commemoration. January 1st marked the 150th Anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, and in May,  the 150th of the establishment the Bureau of the United States States Colored Troops, of the Civil War.

New this year - 

  • June 18th was the Centennial of The War of 1812 , the second War of Independence The program will feature the Old Barrack's 1812 exhibit and new presentation
  • An appearance of WWII veteran one of the recipients of the Congressional Gold Medal for their service with the Montford Point Marines, the first black US Marines, serving in segregated units in the Pacific.
