Newsletter of the 6TH Regiment United States Colored Troops,Reenactors Inc., a.k.a. and the First Rhode Island Regiment. Our organization portrays these historic black regiments from the Civil War and American Revolution to honor their sacrifice for freedom, and educate the community about the military contributions of African-Americans during the formative years of our nation.
The First Rhode Island Regiment turned out in strength at for the 2014 Battle of Trenton reenactments. Members formed up as the 14th Continental for the 2nd Battle of Trenton, Comanded by Lt. Frank Lyon, 2nd Company Glover's Marblehead Regiment who portrayed General
John Glover.Leon Brooks and Algernon Ward, also Marbleheaders, dressed as sailors. 1st Rhode Island had seven new re-enactors who we had to dress with what ever uniforms we had or borrowed, so they were dressed as New Jersey regulars, or militia.
